Mission and Function

The Revenue Authority of Prince George's County is dedicated to promoting the public interest of Prince George's County by:

• Facilitating economic development and employment growth
• Owning, operating and maintaining revenue producing facilities and programs
• Financing County capital improvement projects
• Managing a self-supporting public parking program
• Providing administrative assistance to other County Agencies

Organization and Structure

The Revenue Authority is a quasi-public corporation consisting of Members, the Executive Director and staff complement of administrative, operating and maintenance personnel. The Members consist of business and civic leaders appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council. All personnel employed by the Authority are outside of the County merit system and receive no salary or employment benefits from the County.

The Authority is financially self-supporting deriving its income from the operation and management of several revenue generating programs, including the lease of real property, operation of 6,000 public parking spaces, parking enforcement, vehicle impoundment (booting), citation processing, a 24/7 closed-circuit television surveillance (CCTV) system monitoring six facilities, management and operation of the false alarm reduction unit, automated red light, and automated speed enforcement unit, on behalf of the Prince George's County Police Department. Net income after expense, debt service and reserved funds are paid to the County in accordance with the Authority's approved budget.
