Dear Friends,
It goes without saying that the past month has been a
troubling time in Prince George’s County. Like so many
residents, I am appalled at the alleged actions of County Executive
Jack Johnson and Mrs. Johnson. I am similarly angered at the
alleged actions of several County officers who were charged in the
federal probe as well. While legally everyone must be presumed
innocent until proven otherwise in a Court of Law, the allegations
documented by federal investigators raise dire questions about the conduct
of the County Executive and Mrs. Johnson. In order to ensure
public trust, I believe Mr. Johnson should have resigned his seat and
that Mrs. Johnson should not take the oath of office for the elected
position of County Council, District 6. I have publicly stated
this in the Washington Post and The Gazette.
While this is a difficult time, I am confident that this
County government will move forward in a positive, productive way in
the coming weeks with new County leadership being sworn in on
December 6th. I have great confidence in Rushern
Baker as the incoming County Executive, and am excited about the
opportunities to work with members of the incoming County
Council. I will continue to do my best to serve the residents
of District 3 and all of Prince George’s County in the coming four
years.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you and, as
always, please contact my office if there is anything I can do to
assist you.
I hope you and your families have a wonderful holiday
season.
Thank you,

Eric Olson
Council Member, District 3
