Risk Management and Safety

The Risk Management Office develops and administers programs which focus on the health and wellness of employees and the identification, analysis and abatement of hazards, human acts and attitude that cause accidents, injuries and property loss. Some of the responsibilities and programs handled by this office include:

• Monitoring Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MOSHA), American National Safety Institute (ANSI), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other standards that have an affect on the Department.
• Processing of Workers' Compensation and vehicle accident claims.
• Administering the Department's Risk Management Program and compliance with ADA requirements.
• Coordinating the records of all Department accidents/injuries and recommending actions to prevent and reduce accidents/injuries.
• Coordinating the Department's infectious control policies and procedures.
• Administering the Department Health and Wellness Program.
• Administering the Department medical examinations and evaluations programs.
• Administering the MVA Red Flag Program and suspending drivers with moving violations
