Message from County Council Chair Ingrid M. Turner, Esquire

fy2012 budget logo Welcome to the Prince George's County Council Fiscal Year 2012 Budget web page. In our ongoing initiative to communicate our actions and processes openly and effectively with the residents of Prince George’s County, the Council is pleased to present this budget tool on the Internet, which provides a scope and breadth of opportunities to achieve a participatory democracy. We hope you find it useful.

The active involvement of the public is a critical component of the budget process, as we work together to adopt a new spending plan that reflects the priorities of YOU, our County residents. My colleagues and I truly value your participation, partnership and commitment to making Prince George’s County the best that it can be. We are excited to enhance your connection to our County Government by making important information about the FY 2012 Budget process readily available to you, and we hope it promotes even greater public participation in the Council’s budget review and adoption process.

Most of the questions Council Members are asked as we serve constituents throughout the County are in some way budget-related—new schools and libraries; increased public safety; road improvements; transit-oriented development; economic development; jobs; and health care. These are issues that concern all of us, and issues addressed as part of our budget process.

As we progress through this budget season, this web page serves as our one location for quick and easy access to an abundance of accurate information about the County’s FY 2012 Budget--Council budget actions, important calendar dates, including public hearings, and links to additional budget resources, just to name a few. Please check back often—we will continue to update this site with timely and accurate information.

Thank you for working together with us to move Prince George’s County forward.

Working for YOU!
