The Court, in cooperation with the Prince George's County Bar Association, has developed a Self -Represented Litigant Orientation Program that informs litigants of the importance of obtaining legal representation, their obligations, and the expectation of the Court regardless of one's representational status.

The program, given twice monthly, provides a service to litigants as well as to the Court in that it is designed to acquaint litigants who choose to represent themselves with procedures and requirements. The project is funded through the Family Division Grant. It is anticipated that the success of this program will result in a decrease in Court continuances and delays, as well as increased litigant satisfaction through greater understanding. A Certificate of Attendance will be provided.

The Court schedules self-represented litigants for this orientation program when they pick up their packet of forms from either the Family Division Information and Referral Center or the Clerk's Office. If the forms are obtained by downloading them off of the internet, it is requested that you call the Family Division Information and Referral Center at 301-780-8000 to be scheduled for this program.

Should you require the assistance of a sign language interpreter, please submit an online Request/Cancellation for Interpreter Form. Please inform the Clerk of the Family Division Information and Referral Center of any special needs you may have at the time you register.
