Law Library

Hours of Operation:
The Law Library is open to the public 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Members of the Bar and Students may obtain a pass to access the Llibrary after hours. See a Library staff member for a pass application during regular Library hours.

Library Catalog:
The Library has several computers that can access the Library catalog. All holdings of the Law Library are listed. Please see a Library staff member with any questions regarding the catalog. You may also access the Library catalog online.

Public Access Terminals:
The Library has a total of six computers available for Library patrons. However, one is reserved strictly for attorney use only, and another is a "Quick Access" terminal, with a maximum use time limit of 15 minutes. Each terminal provides access to the Library catalog, Microsoft Office, the Internet, Westlaw, KeyCite, Hein Online, and the Library’s electronic collection of sample forms.

Internet Legal Research:
There are a variety of legal resources available via the Internet. We are pleased to provide public access to Westlaw and Hein Online. To provide fair access to all Law Library users, we ask that you strictly access legal information only. Internet legal web sites such as Maryland's Peoples Law Library, Findlaw, and Lexis One are also permissible to use in the context of performing legal research activities. There is a 45-minute per day, per user time limit and users are subject to all other Law Library rules. We appreciate your cooperation and courtesy to all Law Library users. The cost to print from a computer is 25¢ per page. Please see a librarian if you have questions regarding legal information available via the Internet.

Wireless Internet Access:
Wireless Internet access (WiFi) service is available to anyone with a laptop or other portable web-enabled device equipped with a wireless network interface card (NIC). The Library does not offer printing services or configuration assistance for wireless devices. The Library cannot accept the liability of handling your equipment and will not be responsible for any loss of data or damage to personal equipment. Visit the front desk for access details.

Photocopiers:
The Library has two photocopiers. Photocopies can be made for $.20 per page. Change is not provided at the desk, but the photocopy machines take $1.00 bills in addition to change. For large amounts of copies, Copy Cards are available for purchase at the Reference Desk. Copy Cards are available for a fee of $5.00. ($1.50 goes towards the cost of the card. The balance will be available for photocopy charges. Additional amounts may be added to the Copy Card at the photocopiers.)

Sending and Receiving Faxes:
The Law Library offers incoming and outgoing fax services within the U.S. The cost is $1.00 per page.

Televisions and VCR/DVD Players for Trial Use
The Library has two VCR/Television units and three DVD/VCR/Television units that may be reserved in advance for trial use. Contact Sharon Brandon, the Library Assistant for reservations at (301) 952-3439.
