Application Procedures

First Time Applicants

  • Click on "NEW USER" link and follow the prompts
  • Click "Save" button on all the tabs as you go through application
  • Select Summary and Click on "Job Areas" tab
  • Select Job Areas and Click on "SUBMIT"
    A confirmation number will appear at the bottom of your screen. This indicated you have successfully completed and submitted your application.

Existing Applicants

  • Enter your EXISTING Username and Password (it's the same as previous year)
  • NOTE: If you forgotten your PASSWORD go to site and modify it.
    If you forgotten your USERNAME call (301) 883-5993 for assistance.
  • Click Login
  • Confirm/update your information and then Click “Save”
  • Select Summary and Click on "Job Areas" tab
  • Select Job Areas and then Click on "SUBMIT"
    A confirmation number will appear at the bottom of your screen. This indicates you have successfully completed and submitted your application.

Purpose

The Prince George's County Youth Employment Services and Summer Jobs Program provides the youth of Prince George's County, Maryland with the opportunity for a structured, supervised, and quality work experience that builds skills and assists in career decision making.

Goals

  • To provide youth an opportunity to gain valuable work and learning experiences in career fields that will enhance opportunities for future employment.
  • To provide youth an opportunity to develop the knowledge, employability skills and attitudes that will prepare them to become productive members of society.
  • To assist youth in finding opportunities for employment and enhance their academic skills.

Categories for Service

Note:At the end of the application process, you will be able to choose the Category areas of interest before you submit your application

  • Summer Jobs Program — Applicants between the ages of 15 thru 21 are referred for placement in county government, public sector or academic enhancement positions.

Year Round Opportunities

  • Private Sector Positions — Applicants between the ages of 16 and 21 will be referred for placement in available positions in private businesses in Prince George’s County and the Metropolitan Area. (Full or Part-time Positions)
  • Internships — Qualified applicants between the ages of 18 thru 21 who are currently in college or have attended college will be able to apply to programs thru our Internship Bank.
  • Apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships — Qualified applicants between the ages of 16 and 21 will be referred to available programs in the metropolitan area.

Guidelines

  1. Applications from the Summer Jobs Program will be accepted from March 8, 2010 to April 30, 2010.
  2. Applications for the Summer Jobs Program received after expiration date will only be considered if additional jobs become available.
  3. Students must be in good standing with their schools.
  4. To be considered, applications must be accurately and fully completed.
