As you may know, I was elected to serve a four-year term as County Executive in November of 2002. I am honored to serve the citizens of what I consider the greatest county in America. We've got it all: rich history, excellent neighborhoods and communities, a growing economy and a wealth of diversity.

Prior to my election as County Executive, I served as the county's State's Attorney for the past eight years where I worked hard to reduce crime in our communities and ensure the safety of all our citizens and residents. I've spent most of my life in public service and I have always been committed to honest and open government.

For the next four years, you can count on me to put your needs first. You, your families and loved ones are the heart of Prince George's County. I intend to work to improve our school system and invest in education, create safer communities and improve health care services for our residents. Together, we can work to improve our quality of life in this great county.

As County Executive, my responsibilities include enforcing the laws of Prince George's County; proposing the annual operating budget for the county; and overseeing more than 30 branches of county government.
