Domestic Preparedness

Dear Prince Georgian:
The domestic preparedness section of our web site is designed to provide information that you can use in your household, community, or business. Terrorism events are rare, but possible within the Washington Metropolitan region. The good news is that prevention and preparedness actions strengthen our community's ability to handle natural and man-made disasters, as well as a terrorist act.
Informed citizens and residents are valuable assets to public safety officials, who are charged with the responsibility to protect the public. Prince George's County is strengthened considerably because our communities are better prepared to handle emergencies and, in some cases, prevent the emergency from occurring.
Please review the information provided on this web site. It is very important that you take the time to develop a disaster plan and prepare a disaster supply kit for you and your family. Having a plan and being prepared to implement that plan could save a life. If you have questions about developing a plan or how to prepare a supply kit, please contact the Office of Emergency Management at 301-583-1899.
Sincerely,
Lawrence H. Sedgwick, Jr.
Fire Chief
