Mission Statement

The Children, Youth and Families Division works to improve the quality of life for children and their families in Prince George's County. The objective is to work effectively and efficiently through collaborative efforts on a common mission with shared goals for children, youth and families that includes the following: 1) building local partnerships to coordinate and fund services within the County, 2) creating an effective system of services, supports, and opportunities to improve outcomes, 3) influencing the allocation of resources across systems to accomplish desired results and target those resources for children with intensive needs, and 4) maintaining accountability standards for locally agreed upon results. In addition, at the heart of the work are the child well-being priority areas that focus on ensuring that babies are being healthy, children are successful in school and safe in their home and communities. The process includes conducting a needs assessment, strategic planning, implementation and monitoring a system of care that helps children and their families build on their strengths to be self-sufficient.
